Biography
I devoted a significant time trying to decode different issues which are related to cyber space throughout different research projects during my academic enrolment. Ending up in the Internet Governance field is no coincidence as the centre of my research was and will always be the impact of Internet on sustainable development and how it is important to implement a monitoring but not a controlling system that will give more opportunities to LDC’s but will as well respect civil liberties. My academic qualifications encompass different fields, Economist by vocation holding a bachelor degree in Business& commerce from Hassan II university and Sorbonne but also have a legal background as I have a Master degree in Human Rights and democratization from University of Malta & University of London, studied English literature and linguistics at Mohammed V university.
The IG topics of special interest are: Access, multilingualism, IPR, Human Rights, and Safety issues, the impact of IG on sustainable development in the Aarb region and Africa, policy making process, Social media impact on democratization, Internet and Human Rights, Internet and politics, and finally International relations in the era of Internet.
Since 2007 I am tutoring participants from the MENA region and Africa. I also coordinated and supervising the research section of Diplo’s Internet Governance projects which includes the research phase of the capacity building program and the research internships awarded to successful participants. My participation in the research projects has also resulted in establishing a vision about the how IG issues should be tackled in research and what is the outcome that should be expected.
I also served as a consultant for UNESCWA in the 2009 edition of “Internet Governance: Challenges & prospects for the Arab region” I also contributed in drafting the Internet Governance Internet Governance Roadmap based on which the Arab IGF formed is established. I contributed in the Global Information Society Watch (GISWatch) publications on various themes in 2009,2010, 2011 and 2012.
I also worked as a senior policy analyst with ITU to define the role of ICT in empowering women in the Arab region.
