Raul
Raúl Echeberría is a broadly recognized expert in Internet Development, Policy and Governance.

He is the Executive Director of ALAI, the Latinamerican Internet Association since 2020. 

Raúl previously served as VP for Global Engagement at Internet Society (ISOC) and he was also member and Chair of the Board of Trustees of ISOC. 

Echeberrría was one of the founders of LACNIC (The Internet Addresses Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean) and CEO of LACNIC for 12 years. 

Raúl has also served in other important positions like: 
-    Working Group on Internet Governance (WGIG), 
-    Member of the Uruguayan delegation to WSIS
-    Member of the IGF MAG
-    Co-chair of the Executive Committee of NetMundial and co-chair of Netmundial+10.
-    Member of the steering committee of the IA Action Summit,  France

He currently serves in several volunteer positions in organizations like: CETIC.br, CETIS, Global Cyber Alliance, UNESCO and Internet Society-Uruguay (ISOC-UY)

Raúl has been recognized with national and regional awards for his outstanding contribution to the development of the Internet and for his work in the digital transformation both in Uruguay and Latin America: “Trayectoria” award presented by LACNIC in 2014, “Julio Granato” award in 2014 presented by the Uruguayan IT professionals Association and eCommerce Institute award in 2024.
