Fell, Lucinda

Lucinda joined Childnet in October 2007 taking responsibility for communications and the formulation of Childnet's policy responses as well as contributing to the production and publication of various key resources.

Lucinda regularly represents Childnet’s point of view at various meetings and policy fora, both in the UK and also internationally, promoting a balanced approach to online risks, highlighting the importance of education and recognition of the positive opportunities that engagement in the online world can bring young people.  

Lucinda founded, led and developed Childnet’s Youth IGF Project 2009, 2010 and 2011 successfully and meaningfully taking the voice of the youth to the UN mandated Internet Governance Forum.  Lucinda has chaired workshops at the IGF in both 2009 and 2011 and served as a panelist in 2010.  She will be leading the Youth IGF Project 2012 and seeking to foster cooperation with other youth panels in Europe.

Lucinda is a member of UK Council for Child Internet Safety, the European Commission Social Networking Taskforce and the Facebook Safety Advisory Board.

Prior to working at Childnet, Lucinda worked with the UK's leading trade association for ISPs as Public Affairs Manager since 2004. During this time Lucinda wrote regularly for industry publications and she has wide experience of working with both Industry and Government on Internet policy. Prior to her role with Industry, Lucinda was a Policy Advisor in the International Communications Directorate of the then Department of Trade and Industry.

Lucinda holds an honours degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Birmingham and was awarded the University International Relations Award.
