This session is all about the current practice of how youth are working in creating a better network and participating in various ways of making a difference in the internet ecosystem. Various initiative are currently running in context of awareness and capacity building of youth around the globe. This session is also an extended version of the Asia Pacific school of internet governance where we have started talk about how role, scope and responsibility of youth in internet governance and various SIGs and IGF events.
We are planning to bring in the knowledge and first-hand experience shared by our leaders and we will bring in our experience of the Asia pacific school of internet governance, Nepal IGF, Nepal SIG, Sri Lanka IGF, Sri Lankan SIG, digital grassroots and many other initiative and how we can collaborate and work for the cause motivating the youth leadership.
The role of youth is considered immense everywhere, they are considered the next generation leaders and a prominent stakeholder of the internet ecosystem but with such responsibilities they are marginalized in many ways. From their rights to access to their problems and challenges youth have be ignored in terms of adaptation and standardization issues in internet ecosystem. Especially in various part of the world where the next billion is coming, they are marginalized in many ways of making their voices and issues heard.
The key to the outreach and diversity is the youth and especially when it comes to reaching out to the unreachable, the role and scope of young leadership certainly matters.
But in most of the internet organization the scope and role of youth is very limited though there is a huge recognition of empowering the youth with various fellowship and capacity building program but there is a limited opportunity for youth leadership. This is a reality which haunts most of the internet communities and considered one of the biggest hurdle.
