This workshop serves to provide a platform for all African youth to achieve the following in Internet Governance: 1. Learn how we can build a sustainable youth network in Internet Governance from our more experienced colleagues from other regions globally who have successful set up this youth network in their various regions 2. Discuss how we can contribute to solving the issues of Internet Governance in our region 3. Learn how we can raise awareness of Internet Governance among the young African population and get them involved as Internet stakeholders
Online participation in extremely vital to the success of this workshop. As we are aware, not many African youth attend the IGF. Hence the organizers of this workshop intend to rely heavily on remote participation to enable a majority of the African community benefit from the workshop. One of methods to be used to ensure remote participation is setting up remote participation hubs across Africa. This will be achieved through Digital Grassroots Initiative (www.digitalgrassroots.org), an organisation formed by 2017 ISOC Youth@IGF fellows, which has successfully created IG youth ambassadors in 36 different countries globally. Each of these Ambassadors will be tasked with setting up a remote participation hub (group of at least 3) in their various regions to enable them and other youth in that region participate in the workshop.
