Ms. Chalmers, Susan

Susan Chalmers is the principal of Chalmers & Associates, an Internet policy consulting firm based in Wellington, New Zealand. She conducts research and analysis on Internet law and policy issues, particularly in the domains of Intellectual Property, privacy and surveillance, and trade. From 2011 to 2013 she served as the Policy Lead for Internet New Zealand, administrator of the .nz domain, where she developed an expertise of the art of translating the concerns of the technical community into public policy dialogue.

Ms. Chalmers worked as a sound recording licensing agent at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. While in law school, she held internships at Lawyers for the Creative Arts, the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the Cook County Circuit Court. Before attending law school and following college, she served as the Executive Director of the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival. She holds a Master of Law from the University of Auckland, a Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago, and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in French and Francophone Studies from the University of Michigan.
