Paul Rendek is the Director of External Relations for the RIPE NCC and is responsible for developing and maintaining the RIPE NCC's public relations activities. Paul also develops the organisation's strategies to ensure that the RIPE NCC continues to meet the RIPE NCC membership, RIPE community and other stakeholder needs. Situated in Dubai, U.A.E, Paul coordinates all of the RIPE NCC's activities in the Middle East, Russia and Central Asia regions.
Paul was one of the founders of the Middle East Network Operators Group (MENOG) and the Eurasian Network Operators Group (ENOG) and is a member of the Coordination Committee for both groups. He is still actively involved in MENOG and ENOG activities and works to establish the ongoing success of each group by coordinating efforts across a multi-stakeholder model of participation.
From 2009-2011 Paul was elected as the chairman of the Number Resource Organization's Communications Coordination Group, the global body made up of the 5 Regional Internet Registries (RIR) that coordinates the cooperation and collaborative activities in the multi-stakeholder arena. Paul was also a strength behind the formation of the OCED Internet Technical Advisory Committee (ITAC). Recently, Paul was nominated as a member of the organising committee to establish an Arab IGF.
As a long time employee of the RIPE NCC, Paul has held several positions in the organisation. Previous to his employment at the RIPE NCC, his time at EUnet, the first pan-european commercial Internet Service Provider in Europe and the Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association (TERENA) have ensured that he has been a well-known face in the Internet industry since 1993.
