Biography
Peter Thimmesch grew up in the outskirts of Washington, DC into a journalist’s home and found himself tasked in his teenage years to undergo extensive political and business research by his father. Using the limited tools of the time, he would often struggle to find certain information within the strict deadlines given him. Hence whenever a new tool would appear, he would be an early adopter and often use systems that were unrefined but increased his capabilities.
Recognizing at this age the value of scale and scope of technical platforms, coupled with his willingness to discard comfort in existing systems for increased capabilities of bleeding edge technologies — has served his almost 20 year career well. Whether it was his involvement in the early 1990′s in product development in consumer shrink-wrap software; emerging network systems; innovations in distance immaterial communications; or into the last decade working to reshape massive enterprise information technology delivery — he has been at the forefront of a number of technology sector trends.
Currently the Chief Executive Officer of Denuo, Inc., a holding company that owns two subsidiaries, Addrex, Inc. (www.addrex.net) and Depository, Inc. (www.depository.net), which are at the forefront of the changing structure of the management of crucial IP number blocks, Mr. Thimmesch has been leading the efforts to bring forth unused numbers to solve the global crisis of the exhaustion of the unallocated numbers which the conversion to a separate IPv6 Internet has failed to accomplish.
Prior to founding Denuo with several partners, he was the General Partner of iplabs LLC, a firm that specializes in early stage technology due diligence, Mr. Thimmesch was regularly called upon by corporations, governments and start-up companies to lend his fresh perspective and provide strategic direction to developing large enterprise initiatives. He is considered an expert in identifying highly-leveragable business models which allow for increased capabilities and reduced costs.
As an example of the broad spectrum of projects that he has been involved, Mr. Thimmesch was retained by the United States Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation to provide technical due diligence to upgrade the country of Mongolia’s Information and Communications Technology Infrastructure; he was an advisor to Vice Admiral Charles L. Munns, who was charged with the implementation of the Navy Marine Corps Intranet Program Office (NMCI), on the most viable technologies to best leverage the United States Navy’s multi-billion dollar investment; he has been an advisor and strategist to key senior executives on how best to unlock and grow a company’s value at Verizon Business, TerreStar Networks, Verizon Wireless, TechFaith Wireless, IBM, and Plaxo.
Prior Executive experience has found him as Chief Executive Officer at Secure Software, a provider of application security auditing services, which was later acquired by Fortify. He was a Managing Director at Pseuds.org, a subsidiary of Opion Inc., an NEA backed company founded by David Holtzman. Additionally, Mr. Thimmesch served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of visitalk.com. He created the underlying architecture and design for Personal Address Resolution for IP Networks or Peer-to-Peer network design for voice, video and data calls over the Internet.
Mr. Thimmesch has been a featured speaker at a number of international conferences such as Internet Summit, ETRE and Internet Expo. He has been interviewed for major publications such as Red Herring, Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Forbes and Bloomberg Business Week on disruptive technologies. Mr. Thimmesch was also a recent member of Cisco Systems Technical Advisory Board.
