Meelis Tiigimäe is an Estonian career diplomat, currently working as a Counsellor in the Cyber Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is coordinating international engagement and policy, particularly working on cybercrime, Internet governance and digital rights issues. Meelis is the Estonian Point of Contact for the Freedom Online Coalition. He is regularly participating in numerous international conferences, seminars and meetings.
In nearly 25 years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Meelis held diverse roles and postings: at the Estonian Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels (2001-2008), at the Estonian Permanent Representation to the OSCE in Vienna (2008-2011), at the Estonian Permanent Representation to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg (2015-2019). While in Strasbourg he covered Internet, cybercrime and information society related issues, including during the Estonian Council of Europe Chairmanship.
Meelis holds MA’s degree in Economics from Tartu University where he studied economic cybernetics.
